Cleo’s Wish is possibly Nextgen’s answer to Cleopatra from IGT but immediately you’ll see by the cartoon style graphics it doesn’t really cut the mustard in that respect. Nevertheless there’s usually a few treasures to be had in ancient Egypt and indeed we can see the Pyramids and desert behind the transparent reels although they couldn’t be bothered with any Egyptian style music so our ears are assailed by some hotel bar piano tunes instead. Not a great start so let’s hope we can do a Howard Carter here and find some undiscovered riches.
Ancient reels
5 reels, 3 rows and 25 pay lines is what Cleo’s Wish slot offer us but oddly we need to pay 30-coins per play. The top symbol is a Wild which features the same gormless-looking Cleopatra as we see standing to the left of the reels and is our top pay of 500 coins if we see a full line of 5. Aside from the low-pay card values we have a Game Logo, Scarab, Ankh and Vase paying from 400 down to 200 coins, plus a Pyramid scatter.
Features
You’ll sometimes see a gold chest appear over the reels at the start of any spin which will transform all the top 4 picture icons on the reels to the same one. Rather better it may award random Wild reels, from 1 to all 5.
The proper bonus is free games when you see those pyramids on reels 1,3 and 5. The game will choose one of two variants for you – Cleo’s Parade gives free games with reel 5 Wild which migrates to the left each spin, but stacked Wilds are now on the reels too and any landing will do the same, so the spins run out when no Wild reels are left. A retrigger will simply add another stacked Wild to reel 5, guaranteeing at least 4 more spins.
If not, you’ll get Eternal Riches which is 5-10 spins and any Wild appearing adds 1-3 to the super multiplier meter which can go as high as 20. Any scatter adds up to 3 spins to a super spin meter. Conclusion
Cleo’s Wish is OK for some gentle fun and plenty happens but don’t expect the streaks you can get on the older IGT Cleopatra or any substantial wins, as the super spins don’t deliver what you might hope, although the Cleo’s Parade version can produce a mid-range win or two.
